I figured it was about time I introduce myself and my creative cooking temple.
Every day is just another perfect day for champagne – A happyholic introduction
My name is Ioana, I’m 25 and I hold a BA in Advertising Design and an MSc in Business Strategy. There are two ways in which I use both when I cook – firstly, everything needs to look nice, and the guests I’ve had so far for lunch or dinner all know that before we can eat, the tradition is to photograph everything for about 10 minutes. Secondly, there is a lot of strategy involved in cooking – optimizing the different steps of the process in order to obtain the most efficient duration is one of them, as I am a slight efficiency maniac.
I call myself The Happyholic. I like to say that “every day is just another perfect day for champagne”, and that is pretty much my life theory. And I don’t mean that because I like champagne, but because champagne itself symbolizes celebration and joie-de-vivre. I see life like making lemonade: squeeze all the juice you can from each and every moment. So yeah, if life gives you lemons, definitely make lemonade; or grab some tequila and some salt and start a party!
A kitchen with a view
I currently live in the lovely city of Edinburgh and share a cute little flat with my boyfriend. I prepare the morning juice under the rays of the rising sun (when the Scottish weather decides to be friendly) and wash the dishes while looking at the most beautiful Edinburgh cityscape. So I can definitely say that I have a kitchen with a view. I also have a kitchen with a kick, but that’s mainly because I need to kick the chair before I sit down in order to avoid falling off, and because I keep spilling chili powder all over the place. Atchoo!
I collect all sorts of cute objects I find in my travels. Someday I wish to own, instead of a 12 piece dinner set, 12 dinner sets, each for one person, all collected from my travels and full of memories.
I am utterly crazy about spices. Last time I counted them, I had 79, but I have bought some new ones in the meantime. And yes, I actually do use them all!
This little bowl full of fennel seeds and sugar coated fennel seeds is always on my table. It helps digestion and gives such a nice and fresh taste after a meal!
But enough for today.
Until the next time,
Love, happyholism and nom-nom,
